Pacific Northwest Fresh Seafood at McGrath's Fish House

McGrath's Fish House is one of the seafood restaurant in Oregon offering the Northwest original pacific favourite like salmon, halibut, red snapper, razor clams and oysters to catfish and prawns from the Gulf, to live Maine lobster and sea scallops from the East Coast, and even more exotic choices such as mahi mahi, swordfish, yellow fin tuna, sea bass and more. It is a great dining place with some of the best selection of fish and seafood as well as friendly staff.

During my last visit to the Cedar Hills Crossing shop, my friends and I waited for about 15 minutes before we were seated by the door person and given the menu. Since I'm a seafood lover, by just looking at the menu itself is already mouth watering and we were really spoilt with the handful selection of seafood.

I must say, overall the restaurant looks like an old cottage from fishing village and the wall is scribbled nicely as part of the decoration. It feels cozy in the restaurant, although like the Outback Steakhouse, the restaurant feels a bit too dark for my liking. Anyway, I think it is quite standard for the western restaurants and bistros.

I can't really recall what I ordered on that day, but I'm pretty sure that it is the combination of seafood like prawns, scallops, crab legs and clam strips coupled with Caesar's salad. I must say the servings of the food is almost just right - I cannot usually finish up my food in the United States because of the big servings.

The seafood is steamed first and then cooled with ice before serving to the customer so that the freshness of the seafood is preserved. I know it would be a bit messy especially since I have the crab legs as well, but to my surprise, it is easy to open the crab legs with the crab cracker that was provided.

The food was definitely prepared in the western style and taste differently than how you would expect to get from the seafood restaurants in Asia which relies heavily on ginger and spices to bring the best out from the seafood. The seafood that I had is fresh, and the meat especially the crab legs were sweet and the scallops and clams were just juicy even on its own.

[Wine Recipe] - Roselle Wine Recipe 24_11_2012

I was thinking to do something different for this blog during the weekend, and something pops up in my mind which is to post the wine recipe. There are so many wine recipe around that it will be too difficult to keep track and at the same time, I would love to blog about it, so that I can use the wine recipe that can provide me with the taste of the wine that I wanted in the future. Well, I can just treat it like another type of log book for this "experiment". Anyway, to make wine for home usage, it is not that tedious, just that you will need to have the correct recipe with the correct material, then voila, you can start making your own wine. Of course, for high volume production, it will be another story as it will involves a lot of machines and stuff like that. Roselle wine

Roast Tarragon Chicken at Alexis in Great Eastern Mall

Having lunch break in Alexis must an expensive one because the food portion that was served by the bistro and wine bar is not huge but it is a little bit expensive; although it is about the same as what you might be getting at The Apartment . Restoran New Twenty-Twenty [Jalan Pandan Indah]

It is not so easy to find good hawker food in Kuala Lumpur as compared to in Ipoh. Anyway, over the weekend, YenLeng and I went to this food court, known as "Restoran New Twenty-Twenty" in Jalan Pandan Indah and found it to be quite acceptable, especially since it's a rare chinese food that open for 24 hours. (FYI, there are quite a few of these food courts in the area so I'll probably frequent more of the others next time). Anyway, the first thing I noticed about the place was that it's not clean (quite similar to most of the chinese hawkers place) and the coffee ice here is horrible, just like most of the places in KL. I didn't even bother to take photo of the coffee and it's RM2.30 for a Ice Kopi, totally not worth it. Here's what I have though...."Ho Fun Ching Tong", or Kuey Teow soup with fish balls.  I don't think it's the best that I had since there are better ones in Ipoh but it's really quite good in comparison...
