Recognition Dinner at the Farquhar Mansion, Penang

After weeks of hard work, my manager get the green light from the director to treat the team with good meal and the team decided to have fine dining experience at the Farquhar Mansion in Penang. Farquhar Mansion is rated as the 2nd out of 1,112 restaurants in Penang island and also 2nd out of 1,214 places to eat in Penang island, so it's great to have fine dining experience at the Farquhar Mansion. For those who do not know where Farquhar Mansion is, the place is located directly opposite from the E&O Hotel, although my colleague told me besides E&O which cause me to round the same area three times. The exact address of Farquhar Mansion is at 33, Lebuh Farquhar, George Town, 10200 Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. It is one of the two bungalow in the Mission Place. The Farquhar Mansion Chef's Tasting Menu consists of multiple course meal ranging from appetizer to entree to dessert and if you are not a heavy on food, I think the portion served at the Farquhar Mansion wil...

Chilling out at iMiirage in Ipoh

Today, my family and I went to chill out at somewhere special where we have ambience dining environment - at iMiirage. IMiirage, which by now must be one of the the place where people in Ipoh or stopping by in Ipoh to have fine dining experience, after heavily promoted through the social media like the Facebook. For those who are looking for this restaurant, it is actually located at the 2nd floor in the same building as the Nam Heong Cafe. iMiirage is located just above the Nam Heong Cafe Well, we don't really come for fine dining experience but rather just to drop by to chill out while enjoying the aquarium like environment; and in fact we are lucky not to have dinner here. It seems that meals were fully booked throughout the Chinese New Year season, so, if we were to really have our dinner or lunch here, it will be months after this. We took a while to find the entrance - and the entrance is just behind the Nam Heong entrance, where one can see the lift which will...

Grilled Boneless Chicken at Abbey Road Bistro Restaurant

Abbey Road Bistro Restaurant is one of the bistro and restaurant which was inspired by the Beatles; which I find it quite interesting - something not common in Malaysia; and reminds me of Mary's Kitchen which was inspired by another icon, Elvis Presley. I was so tempted to try out the food in Abbey Road Bistro Restaurant for quite some time and last Saturday I finally decided to give it a go and drive all the way to Abbey Road Bistro Restaurant which is located in the Sunway township at Seberang Jaya. The shop is located at 6-GF, Lebuh Tenggiri 2, Pusat Bandar Sunway, 13700 Seberang Jaya. It's within walking distance from the Sunway Carnival Mall - so one can always park the car in the mall and walk there. Spaghetti Aglio Olio at Ben and Lynette Maison Patisserie

If you want to taste the original traditional Italian pasta dish, ordering the spaghetti aglio olio is better choice than the normal spaghetti because the normal spaghetti usually get the taste from the sauce where as the aglio olio will give you the taste of the traditional spices. During our last visit to Ben and Lynette Maison Patisserie , we also ordered a set of spaghetti aglio olio. Overall, I like the taste of the spaghetti aglio olio; in fact I would definitely order the same dish again, should I have another stop at Ben and Lynette Maison Patisserie. The spaghetti is thin enough with nice texture and the way the noodle is lightly oiled makes the thin noodle smooth and you can just slurp the noodle. Because it is the aglio olio, the spaghetti is not served using tomato sauce; but rather olive oil with some spices which brings out the taste of the spaghetti. However, I would have say that the portion served is rather small, so for those who are heavy on food, one por...

Dining Experience at the Suffolk House Restaurant, Penang

During the first quarter of 2014, my group organized a teambuilding event playing "Break the Code" following the team lunch at Suffolk House in Penang, the lunch was partially sponsored by our manager. Basically, we arrived at Suffolk House around 12 in the afternoon on Monday and we were then shown to our table by one of the waitress. The restaurant area was tastefully renovated with the classy English design, the building has tall dining area - making the dining area looks grand. The surrounding of this heritage building was beautifully restored and only the ground floor is open to all, while there is a tour around this heritage building which cost RM10. The hall where we had our lunch Outdoor dining area Top storey, we are not actually allowed in this area, but there is a tour of RM10 which will bring you here The menu is the same between the three-course-meal lunch set and the ala-cart; only difference in the pricing where the set was fixed at RM...

Chew On The Signature From Ben and Lynette (B & L) Maison Patisserie

I posted about one of the must visit cafe in Ipoh, Ben and Lynette Maison Patisserie previously in this blog and although I don't really like the way the cafe only accepts cash for business, I still like the food there - and definitely one should not missed out on ordering the signature dish from Ben and Lynette. There are two signature dishes from the menu and we decided to give the "Sandwich Train" a try. The Sandwich Train is actually a long sandwich served together with a bowl of potato wedges. I would say that the sandwich is about a-foot long, which reminds me of "foot-long" subs from Subway. The Sandwich Train which reminds me of the Foot-Long Subs from Subway I like the way the Sandwich Train was presented to us - on a  plastic chopping board; with the bowl of wedges residing at the corner of the chopping board as well as the sauce. It also looks delicious to be eaten when served this way.

As the place seems to be special, we decided to have our had our mum's birthday celebration in this place during the weekends. Ben and Lynette Maison Patisserie Front view of B & L The place has chic interior and vintage looking furniture with cozy ambiance; making it a suitable place for special occasion and catch up session with family and friends. We visited the place during evening session for dinner.....it was not too bright inside but I really like the Mediterranean lighting which makes the place cozy and not too dark either - just right.
