Specialty Cuts and Combos At The Outback Steakhouse

Outback Steakhouse is an Australian themed steakhouse restaurant. Although beef and steak items make up a good portion of the menu, the restaurant also offers a variety of chicken, ribs, seafood, and pasta dishes.

During my last visit to the United States, I dine at one of the Outback Steakhouse restaurant not too far from where my hotel is with a colleague of mine. Overall, I found that the restaurant is nicely decorated with Australia theme although the lighting is a bit poor as I find that the restaurant is a little bit too dark.

The restaurant has very dim lighting

It is very normal in the United States for the people to wait to be seated everytime we go to a restaurant and in Outback Steakhouse, we were given a device which is supposedly to vibrate if it is our turn but maybe because both of us went too far, and the device is out of coverage, the device did not really vibrate. Luckily the waitress there is good enough to still sit us when we ask about it, else I'm not sure how long we will need to wait again. So, I think the door person service is good; at least they remember that we did ask for a table for two.

Free bread? Well, I know I did not order it

Anyway, we were seated not long after that. I ordered the Wings Aussietizers as appetizer and I must say that I'm impressed with the wings. The chicken wings were in a savory blend of spices. Although I ordered the hot flavor, the wings were not extremely spicy. I must say, I'm actually impress with the taste. (It's just too bad that I accidentally deleted the photo from my iPhone)

For the main course, I ordered the specialty cuts and combos so that I can have the best of both world - the specialty cuts from Outbacks as well as the seafood. I have the half-done sirloin and the grilled lobster tail. Well, due to the lighting, I was not able to see whether there is still blood coming out but the sirloin meat is very tender and juicy, so I'm pretty sure that the sirloin is half-done. The grilled lobster tail was well marinated and grilled into perfection and the lobster tail meat will just melt in my mouth, an indication of how fresh the lobster is.

Overall, the food that I had in the Outback Steakhouse is extremely nice and it was nice having dinner experience in this Australian themed restaurant. I don't really like the low-light environment, but I like the food. Given a chance, of course I will want to dine in the same restaurant again with other choice of combos.

[Wine Recipe] - Roselle Wine Recipe 24_11_2012

I was thinking to do something different for this blog during the weekend, and something pops up in my mind which is to post the wine recipe. There are so many wine recipe around that it will be too difficult to keep track and at the same time, I would love to blog about it, so that I can use the wine recipe that can provide me with the taste of the wine that I wanted in the future. Well, I can just treat it like another type of log book for this "experiment". Anyway, to make wine for home usage, it is not that tedious, just that you will need to have the correct recipe with the correct material, then voila, you can start making your own wine. Of course, for high volume production, it will be another story as it will involves a lot of machines and stuff like that. Roselle wine

Roast Tarragon Chicken at Alexis in Great Eastern Mall

Having lunch break in Alexis must an expensive one because the food portion that was served by the bistro and wine bar is not huge but it is a little bit expensive; although it is about the same as what you might be getting at The Apartment . Restoran New Twenty-Twenty [Jalan Pandan Indah]

It is not so easy to find good hawker food in Kuala Lumpur as compared to in Ipoh. Anyway, over the weekend, YenLeng and I went to this food court, known as "Restoran New Twenty-Twenty" in Jalan Pandan Indah and found it to be quite acceptable, especially since it's a rare chinese food that open for 24 hours. (FYI, there are quite a few of these food courts in the area so I'll probably frequent more of the others next time). Anyway, the first thing I noticed about the place was that it's not clean (quite similar to most of the chinese hawkers place) and the coffee ice here is horrible, just like most of the places in KL. I didn't even bother to take photo of the coffee and it's RM2.30 for a Ice Kopi, totally not worth it. Here's what I have though...."Ho Fun Ching Tong", or Kuey Teow soup with fish balls.  I don't think it's the best that I had since there are better ones in Ipoh but it's really quite good in comparison...
