Pork Knuckle at Healy Mac's at Greentown Avenue, Ipoh

As most of us are growing up and work outstation, we might need to plan some special occasions on and off to accommodate everyone and for this year, we push out the Mother's Day celebration to do it together with my birthday, because it is just a week apart, so that my younger sister can join in the celebration.

Anyway, this round we had my birthday as well as Mother's Day celebration at the Healy Mac's Irish Bar and Restaurant at the Greentown Avenue. I will blog about the environment of the place, but in this post, I will blog about one of the dish that we ordered for that day. It is the pork knuckle and the portion served on that day was humungous.

The pork knuckle set

Presentation wise, the pork knuckle is served together with another plates of side dishes of salad and potatoes - so I would say the portion is humungous. It's very tempting the moment the food is served on the table. The plates are clean in the sense there is no food oil around the plates, although the overall presentation of the food might look normal, but it is clean.

The food taste, I would say overall it is good. The meat is tender and juicy, I would say, with the balance of lean meat and fat, although I only take the lean meat. I'm pretty sure the pork knuckle is fresh and well marinated with herbs and spices as well as the sauce. I believe the amount of seasoning would be minimal since we don't really feel thirsty after eating. The side dishes make the food a balance diet with the potatoes provide the carbohydrate that we need as well as the fresh salad ensure that we have enough of fiber.

I will definitely strongly recommend the pork's knuckle from this place as it is worth trying, never mind the price tag which is on the high side, but the portion definitely make it up for it.

[Wine Recipe] - Roselle Wine Recipe 24_11_2012

I was thinking to do something different for this blog during the weekend, and something pops up in my mind which is to post the wine recipe. There are so many wine recipe around that it will be too difficult to keep track and at the same time, I would love to blog about it, so that I can use the wine recipe that can provide me with the taste of the wine that I wanted in the future. Well, I can just treat it like another type of log book for this "experiment". Anyway, to make wine for home usage, it is not that tedious, just that you will need to have the correct recipe with the correct material, then voila, you can start making your own wine. Of course, for high volume production, it will be another story as it will involves a lot of machines and stuff like that. Roselle wine

Roast Tarragon Chicken at Alexis in Great Eastern Mall

Having lunch break in Alexis must an expensive one because the food portion that was served by the bistro and wine bar is not huge but it is a little bit expensive; although it is about the same as what you might be getting at The Apartment . Hong Kong Dim Sum BFB in Ipoh

HONG KONG DIM SUM BFB Today, my mom, brother and I went for a new dim sum place in Ipoh. Not exactly new but we have never been to this one, and surprisingly, it was good. Before this, I normally would only go to Foh San for dim sum in Ipoh.  While the environment here is definitely not as great as in Foh San, the food is as good, if not even better.  the menu displayed... The two of my favourite dim sum: fishball and char siew pau and they taste great. The fishball looks great. The char siew pau is also very good.  Besides that, my brother and mom also love the other foods served while we eat dim sum. Here are the foods taken with my phone...yummy!!  Perhaps the only downside to things are the environment...definitely doesn't bring out the atmosphere and environment like when I'm in places like Foh San, Dragon-i, etc....but the price is great. Kinda cheap for the great taste!!
