Panang Curry Chicken at the Thai Orchid Restaurant, Hillsboro, Oregon

I went to several Asian restaurants to have the taste of Asian cuisines during my visit to the United States and one of the Asian food that I have tried is the Thai cuisine from Thai Orchid Restaurant. Well, the Thai Orchid is situated close to Intel, so I actually went to Thai Orchid Restaurant on one of the day where my colleague and I work until late evening and decided to try something that will spice up our day and Thai food seems like a good idea.

The outside of the Thai Orchid Restaurant has an old cottage design like most of the buildings in Hillsboro, Oregon with the big restaurant billboard and with plenty of parking space - maybe because we are dining a little bit late. Inside, the Thai Orchid Restaurant was nicely decorated with the Thai look - so you will feel as if you were dining in one of the restaurants in Thailand.

I ordered the Panang curry chicken since I never really had Panang curry chicken back in Malaysia or when I went Bangkok two years back. The Panang curry chicken is a type of Thai curry which is generally milder than most of the Thai curries -  and yes the curry doesn't taste spicy to me but having warm cooked food in the midst of cold weather is satisfying.

Unlike most Thai curries which has the sour taste, Panang curry does not have souring agent so it was clear that this taste is missing from the Panang curry that I had. The curry was simmered in coconut milk and has ground peanuts which makes the curry taste slightly sweet; but the sweetness found in Panang curry was so natural that I like it as well.

[Wine Recipe] - Roselle Wine Recipe 24_11_2012

I was thinking to do something different for this blog during the weekend, and something pops up in my mind which is to post the wine recipe. There are so many wine recipe around that it will be too difficult to keep track and at the same time, I would love to blog about it, so that I can use the wine recipe that can provide me with the taste of the wine that I wanted in the future. Well, I can just treat it like another type of log book for this "experiment". Anyway, to make wine for home usage, it is not that tedious, just that you will need to have the correct recipe with the correct material, then voila, you can start making your own wine. Of course, for high volume production, it will be another story as it will involves a lot of machines and stuff like that. Roselle wine

Roast Tarragon Chicken at Alexis in Great Eastern Mall

Having lunch break in Alexis must an expensive one because the food portion that was served by the bistro and wine bar is not huge but it is a little bit expensive; although it is about the same as what you might be getting at The Apartment . Restoran New Twenty-Twenty [Jalan Pandan Indah]

It is not so easy to find good hawker food in Kuala Lumpur as compared to in Ipoh. Anyway, over the weekend, YenLeng and I went to this food court, known as "Restoran New Twenty-Twenty" in Jalan Pandan Indah and found it to be quite acceptable, especially since it's a rare chinese food that open for 24 hours. (FYI, there are quite a few of these food courts in the area so I'll probably frequent more of the others next time). Anyway, the first thing I noticed about the place was that it's not clean (quite similar to most of the chinese hawkers place) and the coffee ice here is horrible, just like most of the places in KL. I didn't even bother to take photo of the coffee and it's RM2.30 for a Ice Kopi, totally not worth it. Here's what I have though...."Ho Fun Ching Tong", or Kuey Teow soup with fish balls.  I don't think it's the best that I had since there are better ones in Ipoh but it's really quite good in comparison...
