There is this chilled spicy chicken cooked in Szechuan style in Dragon-i that we ordered during our last visit in the Dragon-i outlet in the Cititel Hotel next to the Midvalley Mall that I like. I went to Chengdu before for business trip previously and I found that the Szechuan "Ma-la"-kind of spicy really suit me well although at first I don't really like it.
Szechuan cuisines are usually spicy and dried peppers (usually known as Chinese peppers or pepper flower) are frequently used in Szechuan dishes. It is usually very oily and each taste of the Szechuan cuisines will definitely burn your tastebud. The same goes to the chilled spicy chicken Szechuan style at Dragon-i outlet in the Cititel Hotel, I am pretty sure that the taste will slightly different from one restaurants to another, but usually negligible within the same franchise.
The name chilled spicy chicken Szechuan style already suggested that the chicken is chilled before serving together with the spicy sauce which consists of spicy oil and loads of pepper flowers - in fact, you cannot escape from accidentally chewed on this pepper flowers. When the dish is served, you can already feel the spiciness in this dish.
Taste wise, the oil actually reminds me of the hot pots that I had back when I was in Chengdu and I really like the way it burns the lips until it make the lips numb kind of feeling when I was in Chengdu. The chicken meat, is tender and juicy although it is chilled meat, it does not have the frozen taste. I thought it would taste good if the chicken is hot, but to my surprise even the chilled chicken meat with the spicy oil taste real good.
The oil definitely taste very spicy, and even my dad who enjoys spicy food say that the oil can really burn the tastebud and everyone seems to enjoy this dish. So, I would say, overall the chilled spicy chicken Szechuan Style really met our expectation on how close the dish will taste compare to the one we can find back in Chengdu. Given a chance, we definitely will order this dish the next visit to any of the Dragon-i outlets.

The chilled spicy chicken Szechuan style in Dragon-i is actually served in a very small portion, based on the look of it, I would say it is about 20% of a whole chicken max. Having said that, small portion is actually good for my family, and for others as well as majority customers in Dragon-i tends to order several dishes to serve together with the rice. Needless to say, the servings actually sufficient, and if one like the taste of it, can always order another round of this dish.
