Free Espetada set from Nando's

This Father's Day month, Nando's is offering free Espetada set for the Nando's card member with a purchase of two sets of quarter chicken with two sidelines and two cup of bottomless drink. The promotion actually started since June 4th and will end by the end of the month, so hurry, bring your father to enjoy this free Espetada. Although I put the location as Ipoh, but it is actually available at all Nando's outlet throughout the nation; just that I had mine at the Nando's outlet at the Aeon Station 18  in Ipoh.

To me, this promotion really worth it as the normal set of Espetada set already cost more than RM30, so which means that if you dine with two person, the three of you should get a free Espetada set, provided you have the Nando's card.

For those who do not know what is an Espetada, the Espetada is a typical Portuguese dish made usually of large chunks of beef rubbed in garlic and salt, skewered onto a bay leaf stick with vegetables such as onions and bell peppers and left to grill over smouldering wood chips. However at Nando's, Espetada used large chunks of boneless chicken thigh marinated with the Nando's Peri-peri sauce and pepper and grilled into perfection using skewer mixed with capsicum in between the boneless chicken thigh.

Espetada set that we ordered

I can say that the Espetada served here is nice, since I love the Peri-peri sauce so much, and the best part of all, you don't have to waste your energy cutting the chicken meat out from the bone. With the meat properly marinated, it is not a surprise that you can just eat the meat alone, or mixed it together with the capsicum and the meal will be healthy. Not forgetting that you can order side salad or coleslaw or Mediterranean rice as the side dish. In my case, I got the coleslaw together with the three bean salad to make the meal as balance as possible. So, I have protein, as well as serving together with some vegetables.

Overall, I would definitely have my taste on the Espetada set, provided I manage to find some friends to go Nando's with me. If I'm going alone, definitely I will not be paying over RM30 for the set, as I feel that the price tag is on the high side, given the amount of meat is about the same as the quarter chicken set that I used to have, which cost about half the price of it.

[Wine Recipe] - Roselle Wine Recipe 24_11_2012

I was thinking to do something different for this blog during the weekend, and something pops up in my mind which is to post the wine recipe. There are so many wine recipe around that it will be too difficult to keep track and at the same time, I would love to blog about it, so that I can use the wine recipe that can provide me with the taste of the wine that I wanted in the future. Well, I can just treat it like another type of log book for this "experiment". Anyway, to make wine for home usage, it is not that tedious, just that you will need to have the correct recipe with the correct material, then voila, you can start making your own wine. Of course, for high volume production, it will be another story as it will involves a lot of machines and stuff like that. Roselle wine

Roast Tarragon Chicken at Alexis in Great Eastern Mall

Having lunch break in Alexis must an expensive one because the food portion that was served by the bistro and wine bar is not huge but it is a little bit expensive; although it is about the same as what you might be getting at The Apartment . Restoran New Twenty-Twenty [Jalan Pandan Indah]

It is not so easy to find good hawker food in Kuala Lumpur as compared to in Ipoh. Anyway, over the weekend, YenLeng and I went to this food court, known as "Restoran New Twenty-Twenty" in Jalan Pandan Indah and found it to be quite acceptable, especially since it's a rare chinese food that open for 24 hours. (FYI, there are quite a few of these food courts in the area so I'll probably frequent more of the others next time). Anyway, the first thing I noticed about the place was that it's not clean (quite similar to most of the chinese hawkers place) and the coffee ice here is horrible, just like most of the places in KL. I didn't even bother to take photo of the coffee and it's RM2.30 for a Ice Kopi, totally not worth it. Here's what I have though...."Ho Fun Ching Tong", or Kuey Teow soup with fish balls.  I don't think it's the best that I had since there are better ones in Ipoh but it's really quite good in comparison...
