It was quite a surprise for me that when my brother told us that we can get large portion of prawn noodle one of the day during our visit to Kuala Lumpur when we were still deciding where to go for breakfast. And so, we decided to give the prawn noodle a try.
This prawn noodle stall is at Kedai Makan Sow Mui which is located in the village somewhere at Kuala Ampang; about 5-10 minutes drive from our condo. You can use Waze to find the location as it is in foursquare as well. It is hard to get parking here, so once you reach the village, it is best to quickly get a parking almost anywhere you can get. Don't expect to park right in front of the shop because I'm pretty sure it will be full. The place is still crowded when we reached there although it was past breakfast hour - my brother and I wake up late as we stay up late to watch football the night before that.

According to my brother, the fish porridge is also the specialty of the coffee shop |

Once we have our table, we decided to order our breakfast - the large prawn noodle. I ordered mine in vermicelli while my dad got the mixture of noodle and vermicelli. For those who do not know Chinese character, don't worry. I take the snapshot of the stall (pic below); according to my brother, the uncle is the owner, while the lady cook and it seems that he will complain if you cannot finish the food.

The prawn noodles served were indeed large portion, I would say that one bowl of the prawn noodles that I can get here is easily twice the portion I can get elsewhere. Not to mention that it is served together with mid to large size of prawns.
The prawns are indeed very fresh - plump and juicy and succulent with little fishy smell mean that the prawns are fresh and not leftovers; an indicator that it is good business for the stall owner. The soup is not too spicy; and if we feel not spicy enough, we were given extra shrimp paste to add to the taste - but I find it taste good just like that. Of course, with the paste, it would be extra awesome. I would say that the prawn noodle is very authentic and original as we are not served with those process meat like some that I ate elsewhere.
Overall I would say that the prawn noodle is superb and given the price tag of RM5.50 against the large portion that I get, I think it is one of the affordable food in the Klang Valley. For those who are not heavy on meal, one can always share with others and taste other food in the same coffee shop. This way, one can have variety of food while having quality time with family and friends together.
Very average prawn noodles. Farmed prawns are used, quite a lot of AJinomoto as well.
