Yesterday a friend and I went to try out one of the famous Tom Yum at Raja Uda. There are few famous Tom Yum at Raja Uda, but I want to give this shop a try first. If you asked me, there is no sign board of the shop name, so, if you were to ask me about the shop name, I also don't know is the shop name.
Anyway, without a proper sign board, the place is like full almost all the time - so you can roughly guess how famous is the Tom Yum in this place. The shop is actually located few shops after a primary school, Kwang Hwa Primary School (SJK (C) Kwang Hwa. If you are planning to there by using GPS, you can search location like the school or a nearby condominium Cassia and after that asked the people around......and they can directly show you where to go, just within few minutes of walking distance. Anyway, here is my Fourquare check-in details.
The place is almost full even when we reached there, but we still manage to get a small table. You can easily know that it is the correct shop, if this is the first time you go, as you can see a lot of people will be either having their Tom Yum or waiting for their food. One thing I realized about the shop besides no signboard is the shop is with very minimal renovation, almost close to none, and with many tables even outside the shop and there is only 1 stall....well, the Tom Yum stall.
There are a lot of pending orders that I can see, and based on the boxes of Cintan Mee that I see right next to my table, that day the shop must have at least close to 200 bowl of Tom Yum noodles order, so you can roughly imagine how good the business must be, considering the shop opens at 7pm until 3am, and I reached there like about 10pm. Within 3 hours, and you have about 200 bowl of noodles done....so it's like a wow to me.
This place is not only famous for its Tom Yum noodle, but also famous for Tom Yum porridge. And these 2 are what my friend and I ordered. She ordered a Tom Yum noodle, while I ordered a Tom Yum porridge, with Chinese bullfrog and these cost us RM17 - quite pricey, in my opinion, but well, you pay premium for the good food that you are going to get. Even after we ordered, we still need to wait like about 30 minutes before we can fill our stomach. Yummmmmmmmmmmmy!!! We stayed there for about another 30 minutes to finish our food before heading for a Starbucks session in Auto-City.

OMG!! Bro...it costs about RM17 for two bowls or one bowl???
ReplyDeleteLooks super delicious wei...next time I go Penang, belanja me ya?
Two bowls. I think the price is slightly high because of the Chinese bullfrog (tien kai). Next time you come, then I treat you this one.
